I'm in need of a couple of reflectors, probably 32" or so, and maybe an arm type holder or two.
Looking at Photogenic, Photoflex, Lastolite, Impact, Wescott. Seems like they are all about the same price range. Give or take.
For those of you with experience with some of these, is there much of a difference in quality between them? Any real losers to stay away from, or are they all about the same?
Thanks for your help.

I went with Lasolite because of the price, and the quality difference between that and a Photoflex one did not justify the cost.

Some difference, not much. I like the Photoflex a bit better then the lastolite, because the silver/gold side ('soft gold') reflects a bit different than the Lastolites' and the 'folding ring' is a bit firmer in the Photoflex. Don't know the rest from experience.

In taking another look at the pricing, I see that there really is quite a difference. Flexfill, (which I didn't list initially), is about double the price of Impact. I don't see Impact available anywhere but B&H. Is this B&H's house brand?

Thanks, Rene' Damkot. I have a lot of Bogen/Manfotto stuff but I hadn't heard of the Avenger line.

I have some of the lasolite sunlight / soft silver ones. They fold well once you’r used to it. The try-grip ones are easier to position.

For my portriats (all outdoors) I use a 44" Promaster SystemPro sunlight/white reflector. The sunlight side is similar to the gold side on mopst reflectors but it has 5mm zigzagging stripes of alternating gold and silver fabric. This gives a warm glow, but not as warm as a normal gold reflector. The balance of color for outdoor portriats is greater with this side. The white side is just like that of any other reflector. It holds it's shape very well but is easy to manipulate and change the foci of the light.

I bought my reflector and stand from B&H.
IMR5142 1 42" 5-IN-1 REFLECTOR DISCS
IMLSRH 1 Light Stand and Reflector Holder

The stand is really sturdy, can hold the reflector in many different ways. I recommend this set up.

Thank you all for your responses. For some reason I stopped getting e-mails on this thread.
Suzie, have you had the Impact 5-in-1 long? I know one of the main complaints about some of the lesser expensive reflectors is that they loose their shape and don't stay flat very long.
Thanks

It's pretty stiff and it is a pain to collapse if you don't know how. But it stores well, and travels well. I have used it a few times, but will use it a lot more once summer comes and I need something outside. The size is amazing. The 42 inch is huge.
