First Time Head-shot

I am so excited to be here! I am awed by the collective knowledge and wonderful pics and criticism I have been reading here.

There are multiple ways. Assuming that you want the picture hosted by the POTN servers, the first thing to do is edit your post again - this time use the "Go Advanced" button and as soon as it responds to that, scroll on down to the next window below called "Additional Options".

Click on the button there called "Manage Attachments". That will open a window that allows you to browse your hard drive and pick the picture to be uploaded. Once you have that picture identified, the next button to click is the "Upload" button.

Then you will find out that your picture is too big or the image file is too big. So, go back and start over. This time make sure no side is longer than 800 pixels. You will probably have to down size with re-sampling enabled (Don't destroy your original, this has a way of not being very reversible).

Then do a Save As... JPG, watching the size of the image. If it shows anything more than 90kB, then you need to use more compression. You will probably get away with a Quality of 4 or 5 (Photoshop compression units).

Do the uploading again, and this time it should work.
