Hey everyone,

During the last few months I often noticed going more and more for b/w instead of colour photos, but not even sure whether they're better. I just like them somehow.

You opinion please, the b/w or colour version? General critique would be appreciated too of course.

As far as mono/color goes, I prefer the color on both shots, especially on the horse shot. That is some very very nice lighting.

In general, the horse shot feels a tad cramped. If this is a crop from a larger field of view, it might be a bit less claustrophobic if there were more room on the top and left of the current frame.

Regarding the car, I would like to see greater brightness and contrast on the car itself. As a general rule, I would be pointing out that the car would be better placed on the right of the frame, allowing it room to move into. In this case, the shot feels unexpectedly balanced. Most likely due to the area of the sunlight as part of the composition.

All in all, I like the horse shot a lot, more if it were not so tight on the crop.

black and white on both. However the car shot takes my eyes straight to the sky and not the car.

In the case of the walking horse, I am more satisfied with the color version, because it has a "glow" which does not come through in the monochrome. Excellent composition and high in interest. Is that the river Inn?

In the case of the SAAB (thanks for naming it as "bmsaab" - I would not have recognized the marque), I like the monochrome better because I see more detail in the mid-tones of the car. Unfortunately, neither the color nor the monochrome is properly lighted for the main subject (the car?).

The sky is very nice in either the color or the monochrome, but that was not the reason for parking on the shoulder of a provincial road and taking a picture of your new car, right?

Tchuss!

I like the color versions. I'd prefer a little bit "warmer" feeling from the setting sun though.

Black and white on both for me. The car could do with lightening, as it is currently overshadowed by the brighter sky.

Thanks to all of you who replied. At least I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having mixed-up feelings about whether colour or b/w.

Is that the river Inn?

Congratulations, I'm impressed. :)
