I know there was a lot of discussion about upgrading from the XT to the 20D. I decided against it. Now I am asking is it worth upgrading from the XT to the 30D?

Please advise.

I would say so but not for the IQ. My shots are pretty much the same. It's just much nicer to use. Depends what's important feature wise too. It'll be a personal decision based on needs or wants.

Yeah. It's a personal choice, that one. Let us know what you do.

I tell you I want to! But only because I want the bigger LCD and the "newer" toy :) When I really put my mind to it, I wouldn't unless I had more financial freedom. Otherwise, I'm pinching pennies for a 5d.

I want more MP's so I'll stick with the 350. I shoot surfing shots & having
the ability to crop & still have tight grain is important. I can't spring for a 500 or 600 so every time I get an MP boost & stay 1.6.... it's like getting a lens extension.

I thought about upgrading from my XT body but the differences were more cosmetic to me. I think at this time my money is better spent on lenses.

I have decided that I will upgrade my camera body when the real successor to the 20D comes out....or the successor to the 5D.

Like Condyk said, it's a personal choice.

I would love to upgrade from my XT, for the larger screen, spot metering and better controls. (I hate using the menu for ISO changes, and the seperate button to hold for aperature in M)

When I think about it though, I still haven't pushed my XT to the limits. I know that my bad shots are not the fault of the camera; just the guy holding it. :) If I upgraded the body right now, I couldn't justify the cost. Then again, everyone's budget is different, so what might be a huge investment for me might be pocket change to the next guy. if I had plenty of play money to spend, I'd have dumped the XT already!

Besides, I still want my Sigma 70-200 2.8 :D

Get a nice 10-22. I'm sticking with my XT for the time being.

Actually, my birthday is right around the corner and I have a bonus check coming to me on the 15th, so hopefully I'll be getting my hands on one real soon.

If I had the extra $$$ I would have bought the 30D, but instead I'm shooting the heck out of the 350D and spending the money on glass. when I hit 50,000 cycles I'll spring for a 30D, have the XT serviced and keep it as a back up. In the mean time, I want to build up my L-glass collection to complement my new 30D body when the time comes. Aditionally, like most everybody has been saying get the grip and the 350D becomes a much nicer unit to hold and shoot.
