I've noticed latetly that the 20D is no longer being advertised, I don't see it in circulars, I don't see it on display at the camera store, I picked up a Canon EOS spring 2006 catalog and the 20D is not in the mix, I guess it has sorta been "replaced" by the 30D. The only place I see it being advertised for sell is on photography forums, lol. Why does this make me a lil:(

Oh well, happy anniversay to us, we are celebrating our first anniversary today, we are going out tonite with a new tamron 28-75, I still love you baby!!!:p

It is still for sale at most places I have seen. B&H has them at a great price. I got the 5D but am still keepin' the 20D. Still is and always will be a great camera.

It's still on Canon's Website - and hasn't yet been discontinued AFAIK.

Most places will want to advertise the latest and greatest, though. Unless they're having a killer deal on older stuff.

My local Wolf Camera still has the 10D on display and it's priced as high as a new 20D.

That was the general idea.
They're spending the 20D share of the marketing money on the 30D instead. Wouldn't you want to push the most recent product? The 20D and 30D share the same market section. Any money spent marketing the 20D is a loss for their new baby.

They will market the 30D because that is what they are making now. There is no point advertising the 20D because they can sell their remaining stock without advertising. Saying that the 20D hasn't been discontinued just mean that they will keep selling their remaining stock until it is gone instead of just destroying them. Sometimes when a model is discontinued a company will pull it from the shelves and destroy the unsold copies so they don't compete with sales for the new model. Since the 30D is really just a 20DMkII there is just as more profit in continuing to sell the 20D's.

Interestingly, the Canon USA site has the 20D, but not the 20Da up, while BeBit has just the opposite.

The 20D will be fazed out in place of the 30D.. That's good buisness... It's kind of like a used car you can still find the 20D used out in the market place but the new model will take it's place.. Makes perfect sense to me...

Too much Gear to list!

I wonder just how in shape is the battery that sells along with the new 10D on B&H, after 1.5 years out of factory.

Don't worry - I saw the following in the window of my local camera shop on Tue...

"Last few only, get them whilst you can, only £599.99...

Canon EOS 10D body only"

;)
