What are the lines over both eyes? Is anyone else seeing those?

*edit* oops! I think pushtoexit may have answered my question! She blinked!

Firekitty: thanx. Stalking is very much differend from candid photos; I actually do prefer that the subject doesn't know that it's being photographed, after I got the image it doesn't matter to me if they know or not. That's street photo for you, or, subvariation - club photo. This particular specimen knew that I'm photographing her and she just kind of ignored it, I guess she's used to that. Usually, candid photos have something more in them, the subjects move and pose naturally and the photographer 'steals' that, rips it out of time and freezes it, I like to think of that this way. There's an infinity of moments and an eve greater infinity (if that were possible) of choices of how to take the photo. What I take is mine and no one elses, regardless of who's in the photograph, of course, the usual courtesy rules apply, I'd stop way before the line of privacy.

Also, I did soften her skin in the first photo, (in the second one it's untouched) but I see no reason to retouch someone's face completely just because some pores are visible - what would be the point of that, should I deliberately lie about what the camera saw just to make the truth prettier? One should always accept themselves as they are.

Jbkalla: I like that alot :D

5D and holy trinity of primes. Now the 90mm TS-E TS-E fly bit me. I hate these forums.

I noticed you said you sharpened the image. When that's applied to an image, it harshens the skin up. I didn't tell you to completely wipe away all imperfections, just soften the skin. We can't help it when a pimple erupts or makeup settles in the fine lines. Those are things that image editing programs help out with. I would personally hate to be plastered on the internet with a greasy face and and acne breakout. I'm just telling you this from a womans point of view.
When I first got my camera I tested out low lighting situations without a flash. Now, I am no photographer. I don't claim to be. Anyway, I started shooting myself with different settings on the camera. I was Horrified, HORRIFIED when I viewed them on the computer at full resolution. I also had to sharpen the images, which made everything even scarier. Skin is difficult to get right without the assistance of talented makeup artists.

I like your picture - and the different attempts. At first I didn't like the idea of taking the man out of the background, but when I saw your touch up it it brought more attention to your subject. I would personally suggest that your 2nd attempt and your last and combine them....what I am saying keep the dark background but less blur on the foreground - too much again. :) GREAT SHOT.

firekitty: get close enough and everybody is scary. It's something beauty magazines won't tell you, sadly, and I hate them for that. I will however take your advice seriously...
