Left part of the picture altered with lighting effects in Photoshop, the other half original.
Do you like the render effect in this one?
C&C always welcome :)

Without seeing the original, it is impossible to say anything about the application of the effect. As is, I was unable to tell - so if you intended to make it seamless you did a pretty good job.

BUT-

You do realize that this is a photograph of some hairs with an out of focus violin also in the shot, right?

Then you nailed it!

That being the case, you might want to think of shifting the hue on her shoulder/neck to more closely match the yellow lighting of the rest of the shot. It looks like there are two white balances going on.

It still looks a little cyan on the skin tones. Does this seem more natural? I just used Photo Filter/Warming at about 60%.

Seriously, though - as a viewer, the hairs really distract. I have a hard time looking at the shot without wanting to brush the hairs away. Yes, it involves the viewer, but not, I think, in a good way.

Rad,

Skin tone looks more pleasing now and you are right about the distracting hair. What I tried doing was getting a graduated effect from "render filter on the left to original on the right. (doesn't look to good in the downsized format)

Thanks for the pointers :)

Can't help but feel that the blown lamp is the main problem with this shot.
