It's basically a massive collection of filters, from simple sharpening stuff to pretty dramatic effect combinations. It could almost be considered "cheating," really.

Indeed they are especially Viveza and SilverEFxPro, a little pricey but worth every penny

What is everyone using for plugin-ins these days?

I am still stuck on Fred Miranda Velvia Vision and Intellisharpen II after 10 years :).

I know there are a lot of good plug-ins out there.... Fred Miranda has some nice inexpensive ones, but the old fashioned photographer in my has just fallen back on the basics pretty much anymore.

I've actually invested a little bit more time in learning the deeper "secrets" of PhotoShop and have been able to achieve some very satisfying prints that way.

For Photoshop (CS4), I use Viveza 2 (amazing!), Portraiture, and Noise Ninja on a regular basis. All wonderful plugins.

For Lightroom, I use the mogrify plugin to watermark my photos, viveza 2, portraiture, and enfuse (for my architecture work).
