:( My 10D will not AF in the Creative mode but will do so in the dummy modes. It use to do both and yes the AF switch is active. I have tried a couple of different lenses and have eliminated that problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it time to pull out the Mack warranty?

In what focus mode? Are you in AI Focus mode? That sometimes doesn't 'appear' to focus.

Did you move focus to the '*' via CF?

No, Straight AF mode and the center focus is where it is always kept. I just checked everything again and still no luck

Did you check to make sure C.Fn-04 is set to 0 instead of 1, 2 or 3?

my 350D did this the other day. I switched lenses and it still wouldn't AF. I took out the battery and put it back in, it's been working fine every since. Not sure if I have a problem or not.
