Where were you standing for #2? Is it cropped? For 118mm that's pretty tight. Was this a match or practice/demo?

This was a real match. They generally don't mind where I stand as long as I stay out of people's way.

For #2, I was sitting on the ground, next to the net on the right hand side facing the player. The image posted is a portrait crop of a landscape orientation shot. I had to shoot a lot of the shots in landscape because I had no idea how far out the racket was going to go when the player would swing. It was driving me crazy when I had the tip of the racket, or sometimes a piece of their head, missing from the photo.

Looks pretty solid to me. The more you know the sport the better you will understand how they move.

Nicely done. I like the framing on #1 the best, although you got better depth of field in the others (more blurred background). #2 is probably the keeper based on your capture of the focus she has as she tracks the ball....

keep shooting,
andrew

Nice work! Cropping feels a bit tight, but probably just me. :)

Not much to add...it's been well covered. #2 is a great shot... H.S. girl's tennis is tough as it's not very intense...more just hitting it back and forth for the most part...so it's hard to get good action shots. So don't be too hard on yourself. It's really a boring sport to me to shoot...right up there with shooting golf.

Nice job.
