It might work better if the eyes were level?

I think the nose is too close to the edge of the frame.

NICE!!! Spooky....great Halloween pic! I like it alot however there is something with that nose like Hellashot said.

How close were you to the cat? I'm in the learning process and would love to know the "details" of your shot, lens ect.....

Thanks!
Chris

OK, Tv mode, which means that you selected 1/13 of a second. Seems dangerously long, but you pulled it off. I am curious about the choice of 100 ISO. Had you gone to 400 you could have chosen a smaller aperture which would have allowed you to have kitty's nose in focus.

It is the lack of focus on the nose, which occupies such a large piece of the image's real estate, that kills the shot for me.

It is long slow learning curve, but you will eventually learn to think of all of your technique factors before you shoot. If you still have access to kitty, you might try this one again.

Hi Radtech, I was trying different settings just to see what they would look like. I am going to do what you said about changing ISO and do it over. Kitty never leaves the yard. Thanks for the advice, It really helps.

Hi Jenny, yes I think that helps and could even go another degree clock wise. Those eyes are very penetrating and intense. Keep up the good work.

I'm not sure what it is, but something feels a bit off, as someone above mentioned I'm not sure if it's the tip of the nose being cut off or what. Maybe if the tip of the nose and a bit of the snout was in and the top was cropped a bit lower?

Yeah for portraits, I'd leave it in Av mode (to mainly control depth of focus) set the ISO as low as possible and set the IS on. You may want to select a higher aperature like a f8 as if you zoom in and the subject is very close your DOF maybe too shallow to keep the nose and the eye both in focus.
