I am so excited. After months of researching and reading every possible thread on every forum I have finally ordered the following items:
from B&H:
30d
17-40 f/4L
EF 70-200 f/4L
EF 50 f/1.8
B+W 77 mm circular polarizer MRC filter
B+W 77 mm UV Haze MRC Filter
B+W 67 mm UV Haze MRC Filter
B+W 67 mm to 77 mm step-up ring
B+W 52 mm to 55 mm step up ring
1 GB ultra II Compact Flash Card
Large Giottos Air Blower
Lowepro Sling Shot 200 AW camera bag
-----
$3,190.15
from Dell - 2 GB Ultra II Compact Flash Cards - $162.10
from SterlingTek - 2 Canon BP-511 1800 mAh Batteries - $30.97

I know. I know. Tripod is missing and battery grip and flash, but, for the photography I do-I have what I need for now.

I have no doubts that a lot of people would not be satistified with my choices, but, believe me there is reason for every single one. I think this is the best I can do for what I photograph (Jack Russell Terrier races, dog candids, difficult light conditions, landscapes, backpacking trips, white water kayaking, dust, sand, and gravel bars) and for my immediate budget. A lot of people were surprised with so many UV filters. This was the specific advice of professional photographer taking pics of JRT races who said that I better have the filter on the whole time due all dust in the air. Some people thought I had to get 1.8 glass. I just could not follow all the advices without spending twice as much money.

I have to start somewhere. Better 2.8 glass will come later. And good tripod(I have one I can use for now). And battery grip. And flash. And 1.4X teleconverter. And .... and so many other things.

Just wanted to share with you my excitement,
m

B&H has the ExtremeIII 2gb for less than 100...maybe you could cancel the Dell order. and I'm kinda confused about the 52-55 step-up ring...I know it goes on the 50, but you don't have a filter shown.

I originally was going to get 85 1.8 suggested for fast dog races in difficult light conditions, but when I posted my wish list some people felt that I should start only with 2 lenses and see what else I need a bit later on. So, I got 50 1.8 just beacuse it was cheap.

didn't realize you got two of them for that price, the B&H deal I was referring to was with the PSMAR code entered...$98.96/ea, but that Dell deal is definitely better, as the difference in speed isn't that much btwn. the Ultra II and the Extreme III series.

I probably wouldn't pay the extra $50 for cards that are only a little faster, and maybe a little more stable. I am; however, going to nab one of those Extreme IIIs, my 1gb can only hold about 100 RAW files.
