I am still trying to learn my way around my camera and figure how everything works.

I just bought a Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 to take photos of my sons soccer game. He had a game today so I thought I would give it a shot. Most of my photos look like this one.

This is a 100% crop of the team. I shot in RAW and have not done any post processing at all.

PLEASE HELP

I am new here as well, and I have learned a few things, like noise reduction programs FREE to down load, here is a 400X400 crop ofyour image after a default pass:

Is this better? I am sure the pros will tell you more like using Photoshop tools that will help even more, the program I used is called Noiseware Communty Edition, (c) 2004 Imagenomic, LLC. All rights reserved. just Google it.

Should I have that much noise at F8 ISO 400 SS 1/1600?

Well, there you go, you surpassed my knowledge with your first question, lets wait for some others then...It seems a bit slow this weekend, perhaps everyone is out shooting...;)

It does seem a bit much for 400, but I have a feeling that it is really a moot point. See, keep this in mind, 100% are never seen in the real world. The real question is this, "How does the shot look when printed?" Whether it is a home printer, costco, or a high end lab, I suspect they will look just fine.

Had a play with this.

Would probably come up better with the original, witout jpg artifacts.
