I have the feisol (external link) and really like it. Sturdy enough to use, yet light enough to carry with so it is there when I want to use it.

I have the Dynatran AT 828 now... I've also got a cheapo POS lightweight pod if I want to go hiking without the weight...lol(that'll happen... haha) I wanted something that didn't feel like it would blow over easy and I'll tell you I'm impressed with the grip ball head. It's really slick. I don't mind that this pod weighs a bit more (7.65 lbs).

Wow, what a sweet deal. The grip action ballhead can support heavy gears. So don't worry if u upgrade to longer heavier lens, or a 1DMiin in the future. It's easy to use too. Better than 3-way panhead.
Write a review or something when u receive the tripod.;)

I just won two eBay auctiond for Dynatran CF92 legs and a Dynatran ATH-H95 Magnesium Alloy Ballhead. I paid a total of $120 shipped for the set and will do a review once I recieve the tripod and ballhead. I wanted something lightweight that is easy to travel with and together the legs and head come in under 5lbs...I had been looking at Feisol legs as well as a CF Bogen Manfrotto...cost for the legs alone in either scenario was above $230...I have read very good things about the Dynatran setup...I will snap pictures and share as soon as I can.

Lucky you. A lot of Dynatran CF bidding went way higher than what you got.

Some people love to say "How can you trust your $1200 gear on a $120 tripod?". My question to them will be "So I can't trust a sturdy, reliable tripod just because it's Amvona and only costs $120?"

Same here. I paid approximately that price for mine.

It is really a solid tripod -- a very good value.

Be patient, and you can get a good deal. Some of the auctions go for way too much money.

Well, since this is my first medium class tripod, all I can say is that is really good for the things I will do withy it.
First let me tell you that those Amvona guys are fast, I won the auction on April 10 and today, the 14th I just got the tipod.
I couldn't wait till I finish my breackfast so I open it and put my camera, of course the first time is hard to open the legs, but once is open is realy big tall tripod. The material is great, heavy but solid as the rock, but the most that I really like about it is the grip action ball head, that really rocks!! Thats exactly what I was looking for, somenthing that give me fast and acurated mobility.
I don't know if there is others things like those action ball heads out there, but I would like to know so I can put it on my wishlist :)

On resume, the tripod is really a good piece of equipment for me, I'm the guys who do not have a lot of time to play with the camera, also I just start learning on this great forum how to play with my canon 20d and the lens.
This week I'm on vacation and plan to fix the house but at the same time take some good quality time with my wife and my 2 little girls, I will try to take some good pics and share with you guys next week with my equipment.

Thanks for the info on the tripod and all the effort that you guys put in all the treats that people like me put on this forum.

Thanks!!!

Congrats on your new Amvona Dynatran tripod, and the fast delivery too. :D

Action ball head is really God-send, especially when shooting moving subjects, like birds in flight or kids running around. Now you just need to ask yourself, because you spent so little on tripod, can you trust this tripod to support your $1200 Canon 20D and lens?

Actually is very stable tripod, very hard, I think this will handle any heavy camera. My 20D just fit fine on that, not so heavy and the good thing about it is that is heavy, giving this a stable position even on any terrain you put it.

I really trust this tripod, maybe is not so expensive or branded but has all the caracteristics of those good tripods.

But like I said, I'm just a new on this hobby, so probably is somenthing out there better than this one.

I know it is. I was just teasing those people who love to generalize low cost tripod = crappy tripod that would collapse suddenly and break the camera.;)
I'm glad you are another proof of good tripod does not need to cost a leg.:)

I got a Carbon Fiber Velbon El Carmagne 540 tri-pod with the Velbon PH-250B pan head. Eventually I'll get a good ballhead. I aslo use a Manfrotto 676B monopod with the manfrotto 3229 quick release tilt head. I'm going to end up selling the monopod set-up because I'm going to need something that will support more weight.

I just picked up the Giottos MM-8990 & MH1001-652 combo and the head does double duty on my ancient Slik U-212 legs when it's not on the monopod. I'll be replacing the legs with Giottos carbon fiber soon. Great price, great stuff.

for a monopod, the bogen swivel (external link) makes a lot of sense - you only need one direction of movement (up and down) as you can pivot the monopod horizontally. I've found it holds much, much more than the 6 pounds it's rated for. You can put your favorite quick release clamp on top of it.

As for which ballhead, I'm a fan of ARCA mounts. Costs more, but I think worth it. See this (external link). I think he's right on.
