The official name of the bug is Pentatomidae...the people down here call them Stink Bugs. Apparently if you aggravate them they release a foul odor.

All 3 very nice shots. The first and especially the last seem to lack from flare more than I'd expect. Did you use the hood or fix some flare in PP, or is this the 28 1.8's natural behavior?
Mine flares a tad more than my 17-40 or 24-105, so I tend to avoid situations like your 3rd shot...

Some of my lenses focus beyond infinity...!

Mine arrived today and luckily I had the afternoon off so spent an hour playing around with it around the house and in the garden. Very happy with the feel and build quality of it.

Definitely has a purple fringing issue wide open but at f2 its a lot better and by f2.8 almost non existent. In real world pictures I don't think this is going to be an issue for me.

Deciding on the right "normal" lens for my 40D has involved a lot of research but I think I've gone for the right one with this lens, it just feels nice.

Looking through most of the posts in this thread convinced me not to listen to the test chart and lab test critics and to see some great pictures taken with it so thanks to all who posted before me!

Think I'm gonna have this on my camera a lot. Hopefully the weekend will bring some "in the field" use!

The 28 is my low light "go to" lens. While I love what it can do in well-lit conditions, it is fantastic when the light isn't. Blacksmith in Colonial Williamsburg at one of the forges. Enjoy!

Right...WTF, looks like some weird beetle....Yummy, citrus....Just Noticed you're in NC...Heading to NC on Wednesday night for business....Never really been there, I mean, I've driven through, but never stopped...I'll be on the lookout for citrus crazed beetles.

But i think it looks pretty cool with the bug on it. ;)

Just joined the club, ordered a few minutes ago from Adorama. What sux is that it's a Thursday, and too late to ship today, which means they will tomorrow, which means I have to wait the weekend. Hopefully it will be here Monday. Gonna be a long wait, it will seem like a full week.
