Just picked up this lens, and decided to grab a 5d3 along with it (upgrading from 7d).

Holy wow. Just opened the boxes last night, and this jumps out.

I'm loving my 28, but having spent the last 3 years with mirrorless, I really miss fast AF vie live view :( But the output can't be argued against. Great lens.

i eat stars,
your shots are great. I love the processing. I hear a lot of complaints about the sharpness of this lens on ff, is it all a hoax? Your shots look pretty good :)

I find this lens pretty sharp, Jake! Umm, this shot may not exactly be the best example of that, however

Thanks so much! Everything is relative, and people will always find something to complain about. That said, it sits much closer to an "L" lens versus a third party lens, IMO. The sharpness is about on par with my 50 1.4. It's not as sharp as the 24-70, but it's also a fraction of the price. It's a really good lens, some people just lack perspective. ;)

PS don't judge the dog shot (second one). I completely missed focus, but I love his eyes too much to throw it out. :)

Thanks for the responses! If I get too tired of the af buzz of the 35 f2 and decide I could use usm, I might come this lenses' way :)

I just bought this lens on Amazon yesterday with free one-day shipping... only to receive a text today that my shipment is delayed due to inclement weather. :(

As long as I have if for Christmas I am ok with that. Christmas at my aunt's house might as well be in the dark for how low her lighting is... I'm hoping this is the solution. I also have the 50mm 1.4 but I always need to get wider. And my 17-55 2.8 does alright but I always need faster with the kids running around in the "dark." :D
