Great! I love it man! I've been really happy with mine so far. I'm trying to find every opportunity to use it. I actually have been using it a whole lot for video too! It's quite good at that!

Yep.. it's a very nice lens and gives me exactly what I want from it in term of bokeh, speed and sharpness. I thought it would be soft like hell after owing a 200mm 2.8L II and as everyone was saying ''not usable until F4'' but... out of the box, at 1.8 I got sharp shots. I like the size to.

And for those who think it's not sharp at f/1.8, a 100% crop:

i got mine used a few days ago and i'm pretty disappointed...clearly it must be a pretty bad copy cause i don't think that the lens really is that awful. it has a terrible backfocus at close distance and it's very soft wide open. and even stopped down to f8 it has a huge amount of chromatic abberations. sharpness-wise (even stopped down) it doesn't even come close to my 50/1.4.

right now i'm thinking about reselling it or getting it serviced...

Well first thing, this lens sharper aperture is around F2.8 and F4, at 1.8 it's sharp enough to.. (well my copy)

it does suffer a lil bit of CA just like my 85mm 1.8 from 1.8 to 2.8,

of course if you pixel-peep you'll see that it's not as sharp as a L lenses but still sharp enough.

well, mine's not even really that sharp between f/2.8 and f/8

and again, it has CA even at f/8

i'm pixel-peeping, yeah, but i'm not comparing it to expensive L lenses, but to my 50/1.4 which is cheaper than the 28...
and at f/8 i was expecting the same image-quality (at least in the image center), but it's not the case.

but the worst thing is the focus. whereas my 50/1.4 hits almost 90% of the time, even wide-open, the 28mm MISSES about 80-90% of the time. just like my old 50/1.8, which i hated...

No way your lens works properly. That's probably the strongest quality of it, the accurate focus. When it works, it is as good as any other top of the line lens (AF). Get it fixed. And also, the lens can be sharp. Not wide open but when stopped down slighly, it is very very sharp (f/2.2) ...

Sounds like your 28 isn't working like it should.
I have those two lenses, and the 28 is not worse than the 50.

Do you have any portrait shots with it?

What aperture is that?

try doing portrait or try using it at good speed like 400 iso, F2.0, and minimum 1/125.
