Why get rid of it honestly? It's not terribly expensive, but I find it to be invaluable.

Well, it's only a question of 7 mm. Does sound a bit overfluous, especially when you could trade it and get, say, an 85mm.

You are kidding, right? 7mm at the wide end makes a HUGE difference!

P1 as in Prodrive P1???

QUOTED IMAGE

I've always wanted to drive one of those, let alone SEE one. They never made it across the atlantic :(

The very one :)

Shame they didn't. IMO, one of the best 'editions' of the Impreza ever. The one photographed had visited Roger Clark Motorsport, which is one of the UK's best Impreza tuners. The level of work carried out was incredible.

I do believe that 7mm is a big difference, thats why im thinking about holding on to it, but im also thinking i should trade it for a 50 1.4...my 1.8 just isnt cutting it. And i have the 85 1.8 already or i defiantly would trade it for one.

I guess we shall see when my 35 gets in...

If you're going to trade it for a 50 1.4, get the Sigma. I haven't used the Sigma but I'm not a fan of my Canon at all. The build quality is below the 28, as well as hit or miss focus accuracy and speed. My friend's 50's USM just broke on his and it won't focus beyond about 5 feet, and of course it's out of warranty by a few months. I can't wait to sell mine.

Yah keep hearing about the USM failing on the canon 50. I also keep hearing about focusing issues with the sigma and how a lot need to be sent in or replaced, somethings multiple times...why is it so hard to make a good 50???

I don't know man. Even the 50L has problems. I would kill for a 50 1.4 MkII. I'm just going to trade it for the 60mm Macro in the meantime.

How did you handle the sun on the first picture? :) This lens doesn't perform good when the sun is in front :)

Haha thanks for backing me up Rudi, I thought that comment was rather odd as well.

My EF 50 f/1.4 sucked so I sold it off along with other things and bought the 50L. That had great IQ but wonky AF problems. I sold that and now have the Sigma. It's wicked sharp but the focus was crap. It's on its second trip to sigma for calibration.

I feel that the lens is worth fighting for though. I know it potentially is spectacular.

My low light kit is slightly different from what I typically use but it's been fun. I'm sporting a 28/50/85 kit. Very different and interesting. If canon ever makes a 35 f/1.8 you can bet I'll be picking that up.

This lens performs amazingly when shooting a subject with sun/light/etc. in the background IMO.
