Challenge #14 - Lonely roads, deserted back alleys

Whether you live in the city or the boonies you should be able to get out and find one of these in your area. I'm looking for photos that would be worth framing and hanging on the wall, so good composition is a must.

PLEASE read the rules! Put the subject in the title line of your posting and each image MUST be 800 pixels exactly on the longest side. I won't be sending out reminders on this!

I really don't need to see what settings you used, or why or how you took the photo, as long as you give the camera model.
_______________

To submit, click "Post Reply" and put your Photo Name in the Subject Line. Don't forget your Camera Model.

Post until Monday noon GMT, 17 April 2006

Photo Submissions

1. Camera -- Any Canon Powershot Series Camera (SD, A-series, S1/2, & S-series only...No Pro 1's!!!)

2. Time -- any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.

3. Size -- Photo must be EXACTLY 800 pixels on the longest side and no more than 200K in size with NO BORDERS. Here is some help for resizing your photos in Photoshop - https://photography-on-the.net/forum/...9&postcount=26

4. Post-Processing -- do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.

5. Posting --
* ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.
* Photo Name in the message subject line.
* Camera model.

6. Notes -- Name and camera you used and any other information pertaining to the photo...location, photo tips, brief EXIF data ect.

7. Commenting -- No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed, comments can be made in this thread.

A Street with Three Names

It was all looking a bit picturesque until now... :)

IMAGE: http://static.flickr.com/46/128079092_c6a7b63be1_o.jpg

Exif: 1/60s; F/3.2; 37mm Equiv; ISO AUTO
Other - Taken handheld, on a lunch hour photo walk :) If you're wondering about the title, this street has 3 signs, (two on one side of the road, and one on the other) each allocating it a different name.
Taken: April 13th 2006 at 12:46pm
Mode: Landscape.
PP: Colour image was decidely lacklustre, so converted to mono using a gradient map, which was then layer masked and the mask revealed over the areas of spot colour (the road barrier, bollards, gate and lines). Curves tweaked, a little bit of burning to bring up contrast and then a tint applied as the top layer to warm up the black and white.

"But down these mean streets a man must go, who is not himself mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid..."
-Raymond Chandler
