That was my thought. I'm considering getting a Rebel XT and really it isn't that much bigger than my G6. And when someone recommended taking the G6 with a 420EX which I have also, why not take the Rebel?

But the original question was about a 20D which is quite larger.

I just arrived from my easter vacation and yes, it's my first time to travel (real travel - walked whole day) with my G6. I had used my SLR before... difference? 1 lb. makes a difference. I don't really use tripod on my travels (yes, skipped buying a new tripod) because I'm a person who walks a lot and just prefer "shoot and walk", "shoot and walk". It's easier to ask somebody to take me a picture. Again, it's depends on your comfort level. I checked my pics and I'm impressed with it. I used a lot of "P" mode indoors and Manual mostly outdoors and some indoors. Can anybody give me a quick lesson using Manual at night?

With the lens kit on the RebelXT is only half a pound more than the G6.

Really... Didn't know that. Anyways, I don't have a DSLR right now so there's no way I can compare it. I'm just happy with my G6 for now. Maybe I'll buy some other time. But that's with only the kit lens though. I'm pretty sure, if you have a DSLR, you are investing for new lenses which you will carry on your next travels. It's more of a hobby for me, not yet that serious.

We were at WDW last month and I'm glad that I took my 20D. My daughter also had her SD-450. The P&S was great during the day & less effective after dark. Carrying the heavier camera was never a problem (even with a relatively lens) and enabled me to get the best shots possible of our days at the Disney parks. Just carried the camera with a neck strap plus 4gigs of memory and a spare battery in my pocket.

Here are two shots taken at EPCOT that were posted a couple of weeks ago.
