Got this lens recently. Snapped a few in the backyard as a test. Really enjoying this so far.

These are all handheld w/natural light.

Shots:

C&C welcome.

I really like the colors and contrast this lens gives paired with excellent IQ. The IS L would have been nice but for half the price, this is great.

Becoming a gear junkie.

Blimey, how big was it? This is one that I got with a full set of tubes and still a heavy crop:

She was a bit longer than a nickle under the length of a quarter, and about the width of a dime.

Got this new toy and tried these first shots, all hand-held. Hoping to improve in time.

If you get to the MFD of the lens you will get the 1:1.
Uncropped at the MFD ~1/4" long

I just read this, went into my files opened another from the same day.
Uploading one straight out of cam.
Then the same image with some post processing.
I am not going to spend as much time on this as an image I really like, just quickly for tutorial purpose.

My post production process for this image in photoshop
1. image adjust, shadows/highlights to balance out the dynamic range in the tones.

2. colour balance : add blues magenta and cyan to the shadows almost always, then I switch to highlights and tweak the sliders to bring out what i think looks best Rarely do i do much to midtone colour.

3. Highpass sharpening method :
a.)Clone the layer
b.) Filters/ other/ highpass - adjust until you see max detail in the highpass, click ok.
c.) Adjust contrast on the highpass to bring out a bit more detail in it.
d.)Set the blending mode for the Highpass layer to Overlay.
E.)Adjust the opacity of the Overlay layer to get desired amount of sharpening
F.) Merge the layer.

4. Filter /Lens correction /Add some Vignetting I used to manually dodge and burn edges on some images but this speeds t up if i want to add some subtle darkening around the edges.

No crop on this image

This was an image I was going to not post because of the blown out spots, just edited it for the sake of answering your questions.

I grabbed a refurb from the online sale canon did. Waiting for it to show up, tomorrow looks like the day. I have put off getting a macro for a long time, I can't wait to play with it. I am also curious to do some studio work on the 5d III with it.
