I have the 100mm f/2.8 Macro and I think it's a great lens. I have read other's opinions that this lens should have been designated an L lens. The lens, i nmy opinion it tac-sharp. Here are a couple of examples. I took this picture with my 40D, 100mm f/2.8 Macro with Extension Tube 25II, and Speedlight 580 EX II with Gary Universal Lightsphere.
