Reduced the size and some PP. No flash, F5 1/50th 400 ASA
Hopefully the Contaflex will perform as well.

This is a reflex camera? And it has a lens leaf shutter? I don't get how that's supposed to work...

I bought this lens last spring and sold it in the fall because I didn't like my results (me - not the lens.) So after missing it I repurchased another one. I am glad I did...here's a quick test drive at f/8 on a 5D and simple B&W conversion.

Non-traditional portrait. The focal length allows you plenty of space between the lens and running water!

Just bought this lens on 5/22 and I LOVE it.

Straight from camera(XSi) no editing.

hey guys, i'm thinking of getting this lens, but it would SPECIFICALLY be for macro work. i do shoot studio portraits but already have the 24-70L f/2.8 and the 70-200L f/2.8 IS for that purpose.

so... before i purchase this one, is there any other lens (aside from the MP-E 65) that i should also consider. it has to obviously be a 1:1 macro lens...

cheers!

Benon,

There are two other Canon alternative for "true" (1:1) macro work . If you are shooting a 1.6 "crop" body, the EF-S 60mm macro lens actually is a nice lens. If you are shooting full frame or a 1D, that is not an option. The other alternative is the EF 180 f/3.5L. It has the advantage of a much longer focal length, allowing you more distance from the subject.

The other alternative would be the 50mm f/2.5 "compact macro", which is only 1:2 but is small and light, and with either tubes or the "life size" converter can expand the image.

Here's one, from an orchid observatory. Lovely place to visit, if one is ever in Orlando. ;)

Thanks - I'm loving the new body but will always keep my 40D to compliment it. Anyway the 1st one on the second row was shot landscape and cropped portrait.
