Shot with the 70-200 f/2.8L. What do you think? Anything that could be improved?

Canon 20D

50mm f/1.8
24-70 f/2.8L

the first one, the ball being that far to the left just makes me cringe... i have no clue why and i have no room to critique.... but i just feel.... claustriphobic with that first picture.... love his face in all of them though.

the composition doesn't really do anything for me... maybe try getting lower, or making the angles a little more dramatic... it just looks pretty flat, except for maybe the last one.

the first one, the framing is just a little strange. you have plenty of space on the right side, but essentially no room on the left side. Plus, your choice of WHEN to take the shot seems a little strange... there's no real action there... just a ball in the air. You're shooting him straight on, so if you're not going to give me any interesting depth of field, you need to choose a more interesting capture.

The middle one, the horizon's a little off, which always drives me nuts, not to mention that it just looks like you're standing over him slightly. You didn't give it enough of an angle to make his stride look dynamic...

I like the third one. :)

something about the colors. maybe the blue against green??? no idea, other then I would say YOU did a good job, the facial expressions on the guy are another story.

is it possible to completely freeze the tennis ball in the air. the slight bluris a little btohersome (to me anyway) or perhaps slightly longer shutter, have more blur? jsut some ideas.

Our daughter has played tennis for years and to me the best shots I ever got was her serving she had already thrown the ball in the air try some like that and see what you think. The faces are amazing in these pics but competitive tennis is hard work some grunt and some make faces. I like # 2 the best.
