At the end of last july I was sitting in a hiding place watching bears. After 6 hours I had counted 6 different bears. Almost all the time there were 1-4 bears. The first one was already there when we came. It was a very exciting moment when an over 250kg male bear was watching us at less than 40 m from us. After a moment it decided not to continue its eating and ran away.

When this 'teddy bear' came it was first very cautious since there already were its bigger buddies. I was little unlucky with this picture: just 5 frames before I had noticed that my 2GB CF-card was going to run out of memory and I decided to take only jpegs instead of RAW+JPEG. The focal length could have been longer but I was just taking an overall picture when this youngster (only about 3 years) stand up and the moment was gone very quickly.

I used Sigma 18-200 @ 125 (ISO 800). The picture is cropped and I removed a head of fish from the lower right corner.

Next summer I am going back there but this time I'll use my EF 70-300 and a tripod instead of peabag, and hopefully a better ISO value since this picture really is grainy.

Hope you like it.
