Hi, I have a 1D MkII which is AMAZING for speed phootgraphy but I feel the need for a FULL FRAME sensor. I want to buy the 1Ds MkII but knowing my luck as soon as I get it a new one will be out.. Anyone know if Canon are going to upgade it any time soon?
Thanks,

The rumor mills suggest that it there might be a replacement. 20mp (not 22mp) with a 4.5fps - 5fps

But who knows....

I am planning on getting my upgrade in the fall 2006 time frame. I expect announcement on a Monday (if not a holiday) and release about a month later on a Friday (if not a holiday or they have supply problems). Best Month for announcement is probably September. But I have heard rumors of mid-June, mid-July and late August. I am sticking with September announcement for 1DsMkII upgrade. Pre-Photokina announcement.

Note: I am only buying if it meets my requirements. Two key ones of which are at least 8FPS and at least 16.7MP (at the same time). I may also have to wait until 01 Jan 2007 to actually purchase for tax purposes (must make profit this year).

Canon will make some announcement during Photokina Show in Germany sometime in September 2006.

Seeing as no other cameras are due for replacement
5D out 8/05
1DMIIN out 8/05
XT out 2/05
30D out 2/06
and all the cameras after 8/05 are getting the 2.5LCD with Picture Style, my guess is that 1DsMII N maybe the next logical step with Picture Styles, Bigger LCD, slight adjustment to battery life, ISO in viewfinder, bla bla bla that happened with the 1DMark II. Then I'd suspect Canon is working on merging the 1D with the 1Ds as a 1D Mark III ?
