Have a Tamrac 606 that is a bit too big to carry around all day, so I am looking for some suggestions for a fairly compact, "walkaround the city all day" type bag. Preferably shoulder mounted.

Requirements:
--------------
Doesn't scream photo bag
Weatherproof/resistant
Fairly long shoulder strap with pad
Quick access to camera while bag is on shoulder

To hold the following:
---------------
30D with 17-85 IS attached
50mm 1.8
Hyperdrive
2 filters, Lenspen

Have been pointed to Crumpler, but have no idea what models will fit correctly. Thanks in advance.

I have the Velocity 9 that fits 2 bodies and 4 lenses. You would do with the Velocity 7. It's smaller and is also a sling bag. There are other sling bags that are quite wonderful and easy to carry. I love my bag, can carry it all day long and it is easy to get at the equipment.

Thanks for the suggestion Suzie. I'll check out the Velocity.

Anyone know if the Crumpler 5 Million Dollar Home would work?

7.62, head to a ritz camera or so when you have a chance, they have everything laid out on a shelf so you get your hands on it. You can buy elsehwhere, but for a bag, it's really nice to actually check it out.

BTW, 762X51 is .308, isn't it? Or is it 30-06? I'll put money on .308.

your equipment fits nicely in the 100. You'll love it.

only con: it does not meet your 1st criteria (not photo bag look), but it's not too weird, anyway

I just got the Domke F-803 and I love it. Mine snugly holds a 20D with a 24-70L attached, a 70-200L f/4, a 50 f1.4, and a 580EX flash. I can stick some filters, memory cards, and batteries in the pockets. I can't get anything else into the bag now but for me, this is the most I want to carry around. The weight of the bag is very bearable with this equipment. And the shoulder strap is nice and has a good rubbery grip on your shoulder, so the bag doesn't feel like it will slip off.

When the flap is closed there is no visible branding. It is fairly thin (around 4.5 inches) so it looks like a satchel or everyday bag and not like a camera bag at all.

Any pictures of the inside "rdengineer"? The Domke looks nice, but I can't find any good interior shots.

I use the F-802, not the F-803 (3 " deeper for my 100-400 and 70-200 lenses). I'll try to grab a shot tonight. I've actually crammed 2 bodies, 4 lenses, and a flash plus batteries, cards and filters into mine. And we're not talking wimpy short f.l. primes, but big hulking zooms (24-70 L, 70-200 f/2.8 L, 100-400 L, Sigma 15-30).

Would be appreciated.

Thing is....I don't need or want anything huge as I already use my Tamrac for that. Portability/maneuverability is key here.

I don't have my own images, but here are the ones from cambags.com that sold me on this bag. You should read the reviews on that site for various bags:

My layout is similar to the last picture above (the black version of the bag). I have my 70-200 on the bottom right-side of the bag with the 20D + 24-70 on top (as shown). I have a cushion between the two. In the padded square opening on the left, I have the 50mm at the bottom with the 580EX on top of that. When the flash is in the L configuration (i.e., not fully vertical), it snugly fits in the square opening and doesn't extend above the top of the bag at all.

I don't think I can fit anything else into the bag, but if that's all you need to take, then it's perfect. For me, those lenses provide enough for most occasions without having to lug around a large, wide camera bag that screams "steal me".

I also considered the Crumpler bags, and the only reason I didn't go with one of those is because they were too wide, like a diaper bag. I really love the thinness of this bag!
