NYC: the Man of Silver
70-200 f/4L
47th street, Times Square, New York City

He pointed to me and then to his cup as to signal me to give him money. Of course being the cheap child that I am and only having a single $20 dollar bill which I needed for lunch, I didn't give any money. Turns out I needed that extra money from lunch to spend on 2x soda bottles for lunch, 1x mountain dew bottle on the walk, 4x soda bottles on the walk.

I like the way his eyes seem totally black compared to the silver of his skin - very intimidating - and nicely captured.

We have a dozen or so of this style of street performer in Oslo, dressed in all sorts of crazy stuff - once it warms up and they come out I will snap at them ;)

I've seen these guys all over the world... NYC, New Orleans, Amsterdam... Some like silver, some like gold. :D

Great captures!

Hold on...you have a $500+ lens on a $700 body, and you make some nice shots of this guy and can't throw him a buck!?
Nice shots, but if I'd of thrown him a buck after lunch.
You know how much model sessions cost?

Cool shots. Ive seen one of those guys in San Fran, just had to give him money too. A fill flash would have helped remove the shadow over his face.

The way I figure it, I wouldn't. ;) But in NYC, I could surely find something equally interesting just a block down.

Like said Joseph, I had just the $20 dollar bill in my pocket for lunch. Had I gone back and given him the change from lunch, I could've died from dehydration! All that weight and work that day (1200 clicks) just tired me out, even gave me blisters on my right middle finger.
Of course I don't have a wallet for extra bucks or plastic or a license, which I don't even have yet.

Excellent captures, Chris. It is customary though to have a coin for these street performers. It's good karma :)

How much would be a good amount? I don't want to unload my wallet (actually, I don't even have a wallet :|), but I don't to be cheap. Can I take you literally and give some "coins"? :D

something sounds better than nothing. He's got to be pretty tired too in all of that paint and all.
