Baby Painted Turtle

This juvenile Painted Turtle was found by my mother walking across a roadway in a local park (Malden Park). She rescued it from danger and brought it home. Its actual size was just slightly larger than a Canadian quarter. Sharon and I returned it back to the wild shortly thereafter, to a safer place in our local wildlife preserve, Ojibway Park, where Painted Turtles are indigenous.

Of course, we had to take a few photos of him first. :)

Is he like the size of a quarter? I found a full grown one in the middle of my street a few weeks ago and almost ran over him, so he's now crawling around my yard, protected from cars. Great shot BTW.

Cute photo! I found a tiny snapping turtle last year about that size too.
