In my opinion every photograph has a story. I was standing in this canal, I had just stood in front of a game warden's boat to keep him from running up on these lovely creatures. The baby kept trying to come over to me and check me out and mom would get between us to protect her calf. I so wish I had a polorizing filter at the time to help reduce the glare of the water but all in all the photograph doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. A camera in one hand and pulling the boat with the other (because it was so shallow).

i think it looks sweet as is,but i too would be curious how much better it would be with a pol. filter.i took some manatee shots in a canal in florida, and all i got was dark shapes.the canal must have been deeper

Ok, I am going to spell this wrong but these were taken at Wikiwatchi spings. My wife and I were visiting my parents who live just north of Tampa.

Thank you for the comment.

Welcome to the forum! I love this shot. I've always wanted to see a manatee in the wild, but so far no luck.

Great shots, it easy to see why they get hit by boats so often, how do you see them when your going fast
