I have been using a 20d with canon's 28-200mm f3.5-5.6 lens with ex580 flash. Standing pretty close to the action. It works pretty well.
I just bought a new 30d to go with my current setup. I want to get a little different lens to go on the 30d. I want to keep the price in check of $650 or so. I need the wide angle for victory lane and somewhat of a zoom.
I have shot with the 50mm f1.8 lens and it does a pretty good job, but I like the ability to zoom in and it doesn't work at all for victory lane shots (can't stand back far enough).
I'm not opposed to using any brand of lens.
