The composition takes this image out of generic.
Go get the book,
The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter) by Scott Kelby.
In there is a process that would fit this image very will.

I will enjoy seeing what others do to the image...

The composition seems off as your subject is cut off at the bottom left of the frame. Also a bit on the dark side. Adjust the levels to brighten it up some.

I like the lighting and it seems that you are focused at the right place and with good color balance and a favorable DOF.
However, I don't feel that the composition is as good as it could be. The placement of the main subject such that it touches the frame as it does gives the feeling that it should have a bit more space around it.

The white blobs to the right are very distracting. I would run a gradient across horizontally to make those blobs darker while at the same time lightening the main subject a little.

Personally, I would like to see a little more light on the inside of the flower. I think it would do a little more for me because my eye keeps going to that front petal which is out of focus.
