Has anyone bought the new one after having the old one? Is it worth the extra $100? I've learned to give up "keeping up with the latest gear"... whether it's worth the extra $100 or not is up to you, but IMO, if you have the MkI version and it makes you happy, then why replace a perfectly good lens? Those who are now just looking into this lens, you have the option, buy a brand new MkI (as long as they are available) or MkII or buy a used MkI... as you can see from the samples here, the MkI performs great, but how much better does the MkII performs??? 1D MKI + 1Ds MKI + 5D MKI Kit - EF17-35 f2.8L | EF24-70 f2.8 L | EF 100-400L IS | EF15 f2.8 | EF35L | EF50 f1.4 | EF85 f1.8 | EF135L | 580EX II | 580EX I | 270EX II | G12

And another of one of our miniature lemon tree 12mm 1/13 @ f4: I really like the mild perspective distortion and the fantastic center sharpness. I can't wait until I go to Maine later this month to get some proper landscapes.

canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | Jun 29, 2009 11:18 | #339 The Tokina 12-24 is a true Ultra-wide. On the 1.6 crop body, the 40D or 50D, it will not vignette at 12mm. The beauty of this lens over the Canon 10-22 or Sigma 10-20 is that the Tokina also fits the 1D and 5D bodies. However, you will see vignetting up to about 15mm. You can crop it out, but it's there. The real selling point for this lens though, is build and image quality. There is nothing third party about it. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

If the lens is held perfectly level, this does not happen. Buildings or trees leaning in at the top means you leaned the camera back to get more sky in. Leaning it forward produces the opposite. The same effect applies to subjects like long walls. Tilt to the right or left of perpendicular to the wall and one end will pinch down. ![]() The Sigma will fit 1D and 5D as well.

Have you actually tried it? That just means it will vignette. If you go to the Tokina site, you'll see similar language there for the 12-24, "Digital single-lens reflex DX lens_ dedicated to digital SLR cameras with APS-C sized sensors."

canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | Jun 29, 2009 13:19 | #343 I did some searches for the Sig. The reason the EF-s lenses won't fit the 1D or 5D is the rear end stick out too far, hit's the mirror. The Sigma is like the Tokina, short, so I guess it fits. Just never tried it. Thank you ![]() Maybe this will help you answer that question: https://photography-on-the.net …t.php?p=3118373&postcount=
