Fantasmic! I think I'll use this for my desktop background.

I've been wondering whether or not the 28mm short end of my Tamron lens was enough for any landscape shooting that I might do. After this past weekend I found that it fell way sort and so I needed to get myself a good UWA lens. I've been watching this thread for a while and so it made the choice quite easy for me...I ordered one of these today. Can't wait to attach it to my 40D and see what it can do. :)

Did you get the "Classic" or the "Mark II"?

Classic...I couldn't justify the extra $100

What is funny is that the version II only added a motor for nikon. It is 99.9% the same lens as the v1 for Canon.

Tokina also says they added some lens coating to correct for flare and vingetting (sp?). Not a big priority for me and definately not worth $100.

And not something I've had any problem with in 3 years of using the "Classic".

Great shot of the capital dome. Did they allow you a tripod, or is that hand held?

Thanks - this was handheld. F 4.5, 1/40 ISO 400 24mm. I love the Tokina for handheld interior shots. One the wide end you can handhold it to 1/15 or 1/10, provided decent technique. The only fault I would say is that you're not going to get great shots of people at that speed, but if you're focusing on architecture, no worries!

It really came out nice and sharp for such a slow speed. :)

I used this lens extensively for my recent trip to Acadia and absolutely loved it.

Here's one of the better shots I got while hiking:
