It is a nice piece of work BB. I'm a great believer that somebodies composition is not negotiable. Still i'd like to see the uncropped version just out of interest but well understand if you dont want.
Good work pal

I don't know what good composition is.... Sometimes for me composition has to do with a certain brightness or a certain coming to restness and other times it has to do with funny mistakes. I like that he is deep in thought (not taking a big lick) ... kinda makes one wonder on what could be more important than ice cream for the kid to stop and ponder? Probably thinking that he should have gotten the cone dipped... eight) Don't like the lack of contrast on the back lighted kid (a fill-in flash would have been helpful but you already know that) 9) Watch your horizons ... the building and the base on the globe looks a bit of an angle (I know very picky ... but it's attention to little stuff that makes the big stuff better) ... but then you'll lose more of the shoe... sigh ... 10) Like the B&W conversion 11) Would prefer the kid all by himself... just him, an ice cream and the world. Nicely Done - BTW Thanks SeeFut for the thorough remarks, much appreciated. I love the shadows too, for me it makes the picture. Can't do much about the horizon, this was a fleeting moment, and the subjects' positions didn't leave me any cropping space. It's a quick grab shot - that's my son and he stood still for a moment when I got him a cone. As soon as he saw the camera pointed at him he moved out of the way. I think he's sick of me taking pictures of him, not like when he was younger Pio

Thanks for the comment. Actually this is uncropped, taken at 17mm (on a 20d) focal length. I love the depth of field and view of this lens, look at the way the hexagons play out at the bottom. Pio

Sean, thanks again for introducing me to the vagaries of the FM plug in. It certainly is a joy to use, makes conversions easy. I still do a bit of D and B though ![]() Ahh right i was fooled by the dimensions on the exif. I don't know how to D&B pal i'm no expert with PS i can promise you that I don't know what good composition is....
