They're also all on here somewhere.
Keep checking, more going up all the time.
Thanks for looking.

edit-----

In addition to my photography site, iv put all these photos up on my personal site (a little easier to view for this number of images).

They are hosted at http://www.cpowell.co.uk …/thumbnails.php?album=255 (external link)

I have also created some desktop versions if anyone is interested, these are at

Hi Chris,
I'm going to South Africa in July so your images are pretty inspiring to me! Just one quick question - is 200mm the longest lens you used while there? Some people have told me that anything under 400mm is pretty useless on safari, but your images seem to contradict this.

Great work!

I think 2,000mm would be about right!

You are correct the longest I used was 200mm. It would have been great to have a longer lens, and if you can afford it, then get one. I was quite lucky that we got quite close to the animals. If i had more money i would have gotten a longer lens, but i made do with what I had.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

I bought a 1.4x extender for my 200mm so I've got 280, but seeing your photos makes me te think that might be enough. I especially like the fact that your photos show the animals in their environment, whereas I've seen so many close, close crops that could have been taken at the local zoo!

From my experience that would be enough, depends on what animals your after, most of them are big enough as it is.

As with anything you always make the best of what you have, i could always say if only i had a longer lens, but i managed with the 200mm.

I've tried to keep the backgrounds in as they tell a story, they show the animals environment, how they live, not how man has placed them.

You'll have an amazing time, this really was a trip of a lifetime.
