These were taken with my 100-400. Tricky getting those quick up close shots

You did a great job...The snake shot is very well done. That is a tricky lens for any kind of motion shots, and forget it if the light isn't good.

Come to my house!! I live on a river and constantly see garter snakes in the summer. I've even had my dogs catch them -- eat them -- and then throw them up in the house!! I had a garter snake crawling up my stairway from the 1st floor to the 2nd one summer. Freaked me out!!

The snake shot is great - how close to the snake did you get? I assume that they are venomous.

thanks for all the nice comments. As posted above, the Garter snake is non-poisonous. I was about 4 feet away. That's the minimun focusing distance for the 100-400.
