How do you guys get pictures of birds? They won't stay still for the life of me!!! I have a 70-200 f/2.8L non-IS and I can't zoom enough to get a good shot of them. Not to mention, I try taking pictures of them from inside, and the second they hear me open the window from 30 feet away, they disappear and stay gone for hours. It's definitely very frusterating.

Not to mention, 200mm, doesn't seem to be long enough for birds.

Longer lens? TC?
I sit on the porch, quietly, with the camera on a tripod, and wait.
Pateince and long lens seem to be the keys, and the tripod.

one thing you could do is prefocus a tripod mounted camera on a feeder and take photos by remote. Duck ponds are easy!

Just starting out..........TRY a bird Feeder. Set up a feeding station in your yard; put up some NATURAL looking perches; old branches will do, (Just out of camera's site of the feeder..So you don't get it in the shot).
Sit and wait,wait,wait,...did I say wait....Patience is a virtue. GOOD LUCK ! Happy Hunting!
