There are a few of these around the city and they are lit very well. I took these the other night. I wonder what I could be doing better to capture this architecture. They are so bright and the surrounding objects, though well lit at times, don't stand out that well. Take a look and let me know of something I haven't thought of.

Picture 1:

Picture #2:

I thought maybe dropping the f-stop for picture 1 and using a longer shutter speed. I also can't convince myself that it is straight enough. For picture 2 do you think I should get rid of the video billboards and sharpen up the light trails?

Any advice on how to capture these would be helpful.

I think definitely get rid of the billboards. I'd have to see the light trails sharpened to see if it's an improvement...

Silly government! Building a road right in the prime picture-taking spot! :-)

#1 seems to be overexposed to me.

In #2, I would crop out the lower portion of the light trails and leave just the upper set. The billboards don't bother me that much.

first shot is very dramatic with good use of low angle perspecive. I'd burn out that neon sign on the left though and the horizon seems tilted to the left.

The second one is a bit flat, consider shooting at a more diagonal angle.
