Looking for critiques/suggestions/what have you :)

These are after PP. The last image was really quite blurry beforehand. It's still a bit OOF but I think I can get a decent small print from it, if I wanted to. TIA for your comments!

I like these very lively portraits, the subject is very engaged and I like the tone of these images. There is some blurriness, that 50mm lens takes a bit of getting used to with that shallow dof. It looks like your point of focus is off, keep it on the eyes!
Roger.

Thanks, Roger. Yesterday was the first day I tried giving up on focus, recompose and instead messed a bit with the AF points, setting them to the right or left depending on the picture. There's still some focus/recompose but I was aiming for the eyes! My intentions were good :) The first two were shot at f/2.5. I used the Smart Sharpen filter in PS but I'm still gettin' the hang of that (well, everything, in fact) so maybe no amount of sharpening via filters would have fixed the blur in question? I ended up applying a bit too much and went and applied some blur to 'em.

Thanks much for the comments! 1 thing, when focusing on th eyes do you focus between them or on one or the other?

Another... slight yellow tint to it (on purpose) but not sure if it works or if I like it.

Hi whiskaz, colour wise I like your third shot the best, the slightly cyan bias goes so well with her blue shirt......the yellow I don't go for much lol. She is a very attractive lady with fantastic eyes, an excellent model for practice. With the face straight on I focus between the eyes, three quarter on I focus on the nearest eye with aperture set accordingly to get both in focus. That's my practice method and I'm trying to shoot as much portrait as I can to improve.
Roger.

Thanks again, Roger. I'll keep that in mind. Plan to try a few on the tripod to see if sharpness improves but you sorta lose freedom of movement. I'm lucky enough to call her my wife so using her for practice shouldn't be a problem. She hates having her picture taken but loves to be in front of the camera. Go figure.
