My dog Patches passed away this Saturday. I'm 17 and I've had her since I was 4. :(

Anyway, here are some pictures I had taken a few months ago. I cropped and adjusted the color balance a little bit.

#1 (B&W)

#2 (sharpened)

Equipment:
Minolta Old Film SLR
Canon Powershot a95.

My condolences for your loss.

If you want to play around with the two images a little to see what effect it has, you might want to work on the #1 shot to make it just a tad lighter - to bring a little detail into the large black area.

Your #2 shot also makes a nice B&W, if you would like to try that.

I'm sorry for your loss. They are like a part of the family.

I agree with Robert, #1 could use a bit more light and go to B&W with #2. Patches looks to have been a natural for B&W.

Thank you both for your kind words, and for commenting. I find that if I light the first picture, there is too much noise on the right section of the picture. Maybe you all could toy with it. I do like the black and white version of #2 though. I suppose you're right, she was a natural for black and white, hehe :)

Don't worry about a little noise. "Neat Image" is a free demo download at www.neatimage.com (external link) and you can also get the Noisware Community Edition free from Noiseware.

Both are very effective at reducing noise in images.

Try it, you'll like it!

Sorry for your loss

If you take more dog pictures, try getting down to her/his level and shooting in portrait. which creates better eye contact, and makes for more frame filling shots

Not good enough at this for C&C, but sorry about your dog. I had a golden retriever that lived to be 18 and died 2 years ago. I still miss her. They become part of your family.
