I suggest cleaning off the desk and staying away from her for a little while. It sounds like she will get over it after a while.

At least she told you to clean off the desk and not to pack your clothes. ;-)a

So I ordered my 30D from B&H yesterday and when I told my wife she asked, " I thought you were'nt going to get a new camera, I thought you said it wasnt much better than yours?" ... then she looks at me with a puzzled look on her face and says.. " Is this a Penis thing?" I wasn't expecting that so I didnt know what to say, so I thought it through and finally said, Yes... Yes it is!
She didn't know what to do since I obviously didn't give the answer she was expecting, so she told me ... "clean off your desk, it looks like a bomb went off on it" then walked away.
Does that mean she won???
lol, I guess that is why I love her!

Oh man!!! I'll bet you would've ordered a 1-series and the 70-200IS if you knew her reaction yould be to simply relate it to a "Penis thing"..

At least your honest. Hiding a major purchase from the wife can prove to be deadly.

I like to downplay it a little sometimes. I psyched my wife for nearly 4 mths (that's how long it took for me to save for it anyway) before I got the 1D2N and when I did get it she was pretty cool about it.. A week later I got the 70-200IS and hoped she didn't notice the size difference between the f4L and the IS. Over the weekend I passed her the camera to shoot our daughter and me, and she didn't seem to notice the difference. If she didn't notice the difference then the difference is too small to mention right? :p

My wife didn't notice a difference when I switched from the 20D to the 5D and then to the 1dmkIIn. I think she still thinks I'm using the 20D.

You only have a 30D?
MINE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!  :p

(But unfortunately I'm still single... I'd rather have a 30D and a nice girlfriend than a 5D and no girlfriend... :D ).

Have fun with your new camera!

I really like that you admire honesty ... in others :p

After getting some small, inconspicuous black primes that look very much the same, I am now curious to see if an 85/1.2 L might go unnoticed in between the 17/3.5, 30/1.4, 50/1.4 or if I'd rather limit myself to the 85/1.8 instead... maybe I could convince my wife that I got an improved lens hood

Best regards,
Andy

Just say sorry, agree you need help and ask how much therapy would cost.

Just remember to not say anything to your partner when she comes home with clothes, shoes, handbag & makeup worth as much as an L...

And maybe mention that story you heard on the forum about the guy that went out and bought a house without telling his wife

I also now and then tell my wife how much I really would like to get a Porsche as fun car again (OK, just an old & used one, but still... ) That should prepare her to agree to more lens purchases (although my 3 year old son would certainly prefer the Porsche :p )

Best regards,
Andy

Who's got the number for the 12-step program? :D

Do you shoot alone? Do you sneak purchases from shady camera stores? Do your friends worry about you?
