Considering the discussion going on in this thread, I thought I would ask this question. I am about to move my family into a brand new house on 3 acres of land where my wife has been wanting to move to ever since we met 12 years ago. Do you think she will let me purchase the 100mm Macro f/2.8 now? :)

No. First she needs new curtains for all the windows, then to repaint to match the curtains, then to get everything reupholstered so it fits the new decor. But look at the bright side - with all that needing to be done, you wouldn't have been able to use it even if you had got it, and that'd be still worse than not getting it.

Zacker, you are hands down the winner here. You got a new camera and all you had to hear was a wise crack about your manhood and clean your desk. Hell, Sunday I told my wife that I wasn't going to play golf, then I ended up playing (just 18 holes and $30 not a new 30D and $1,400 like you) and I am cutoff for at least a week and had to sweep and mop the floors. Good job, bro.

lol.... I guess i got away pretty easy huh?
Sorry to hear that.

I found out today that I am not going to be able to purchase the lens right now anyway. I have to spend $2000+ on dirt. Yea... dirt... to backfill around the house. :(

well that just stinks.. hey, at least you'll have a nice new house! Mine was built in 1909 and when ever i have to fix something im reminded as to why i hate old houses!
plus the fact that it doesnt even look that old, its ugly with no style and very plain jane..except for the gardens ..but thats all Chris's doings, she's like a maniac in the spring/ summer!
lol

ROFL! I did the same thing for the past week or two.

Not so much the manual, but the laptop on the lap, the camera in hand... Snap. Snap. Snap. Flash. Snap. "Wow!" :D

Best regards,

It's not that I'm being dishonest really. It's just that I've chosen not to disclose the information. ;)

In all seriousness, I'm going to end up telling her when she gets back from her business trip this week. She just asked me if I wanted the 1d mkIIn for our upcoming anniversary. She's so thoughtful. I didn't have the heart to tell her that I already got it. Maybe I can get away with having two! No. I couldn't possibly take advantage like that. Well, maybe.... I really have to get her something nice.
