One way I have found to keep my wife from getting upset at me for spending $$$ on new camera gear when I already have too much is for me to buy her something very expensive and extravagant, i.e. jewellery, which she loves. Once you drop $2000 on something nice, she won't complain if you spend $500 on a lens or something like that. ;)

Better still, sell the wife, sell the kids and use the proceeds to buy more camera gear :)

Hey I think you may be on to something here. B&H should sell a "ring lens mount kit". Think about it. You have a big honkin piece of glass that cost a lot of money... mount it on a ring and tell your wife its made of diamond... wink, wink. She'll be lovin the fact that its bigger than any of her friends rings. Convince her that the black tube is a fancy new European style mount that her friends don't have yet. Imagine how proud she'll be when she reaches for a cup of punch at the PTA meeting with an 85mm f/1.2 ring on her finger!

If we could get this to catch on, we'd be having the wives begging us to buy "them" a new lens... I mean ring.

Hmmm.... that probably won't work for a 600mm f/4 though. I've got it. How about a new high-tech rolling pin for the kitchen. It will be the bomb this time of year for making apple pie crusts in preparation for Thanksgiving. Its so heavy that they won't have to put forth a lot of effort to get it to flatten the dough.... not like those old cheap wooden rolling pins. "I'm only thinking of you, honey!"

I dunno, in coporate america, "clean off your desk" has a whole different conotation (same as "you're fired"). Might just leave well enough alone.

You won! I would have said the same thing I told my elementary school teacher... " boys don't clean up in my house."

There's the rub. My wife will glady let me buy whatever I want, even if I've managed to talk myself out of it. She's the devil, really. She plays innocent, gets me to pull the trigger and then suddenly I'm on the line to let her go shopping. Thus, I pay nearly double for everything. One of these days I'll wisen up.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure that I'd admit to others if my wife asked me this question. After all, who's in a better position to know if you have reason to feel inadequate?;) :)

Was that a question? Cause it should have been a statement. Let me rephrase it;

That does mean she won...not that anything else is possible.

Sure. And every pair of shoes she owns is a vagina thing. Now I wonder who has made the greater investment in his/her genitalia.

WTF LOL hahaha

My wife and her business partner run a business selling clothes. Amazes the heck out of me how much women will spend on clothes, hair and makeup over the year. I would check your wifes latest clothes / shoes etc next time she walks away from an expected argument over your latest gear...... Your 30D may not have been that bad ;)

There is the rub. You must buy her stuff first, then lay the trip on her to let you buy what you want. :D
