Here are a couple shots from this weekend at VIR. Little wet on Saturday, but turned out nice on Sunday. For those interested, there are full galleries at www.speedarena.com (external link) under the sports car galleries.

Interesting shots... cool Oak Tree perspective shots. I was going to say where the heck are the rain shots.... no covereage of the weekend would be complete without them, but then I saw the link.

Yeah, there are plenty of rain shots in there, I'm still drying out.

I think this might be the most telling shot of the wet weather we had. This poor sucker got over the hill and then the wet grass did the rest. Slow motion, down the hill, all four brakes locked up and still accelerating. If not for the fence, he would have ended up on the track.

Nice pic on the VAN. I watched that whole situation unfold with sheer terror(delight).

Thanks, I have to admit, I "nicked" it to begin with from another shooter I really respect. Funny thing is, if you watch the movie Le Mans, you will see it used there as well.

So with photos, its really all been done before somewhere, the thing is you always want to strive to do it better than the last guy.

I'd be interested to see your version whenever you get the chance and I also have some experimenting to do with it as well.

pl1ght, I saw it all happening as well, unfortunately I had a corner worker station between me and the incident, so no "action" shots of the situation, but figured I'd snap a couple shots of the aftermath for a good laugh in the media center later on.

first thing i need to do is remember to bring a wrench with me to remove the middle tier of the armco :)

the thing about that particular photo is that you picked the perfect car for it.. those red lines on the paint scheme blurring as the car moves to the right works brilliantly

Nah, you dont have to dismantle anything. Get close and you'll get the effect. That was only about an inch between the rails.

Yes, that car did work rather well for that photo. I wish my timing had been just a bit better to get the entire car in the frame instead of being cut off like it is. Oh well, cant win them all eh?

This is the reverse of the British phrase. "Keep it on the island" I suppose.

I imagine he had some explaining to do after that one.

Your camera is alot smarter than the "M" Zealots would have you believe
