I would change the title of number one from gorilla to "the thinker" what do you think LoL
the coloring and lighting are stunning on one!

Gorgeous Nat!

How close can people get to these animals at Melbourne Zoo??

Are you using a 300mm lens?

I was at Taronga Zoo yesterday and obviously, the animals in Sydney didn't like the cool weather as most of them were hiding inside or under/behind something!! SO frustratng!!

The Orang-utans were nowhere to be seen, same with the Gorillas and the everyone else was sleeping!! Grrrrrr.

I think next time I will take a pic of the enclosures so people can get an idea :) It really depends. The Snow Leopard enclosure is quite difficult - about two meters from the chainlink fence which reflects the sun, so all depends on time of day. The big cats are up and about at 10-11am so that's when I go and that's when lighting is ok. You have to figure out when each animal gets fed, or is likely to be up and about.

The Gorillas are good, there is a non fence/glass area but the sun can be quite bad.
Orang-utans are okay, crappy colours in their section but they are moving soon.

It's all about learning what time the animals move about, and what light suits the enclosure. I also visit the same enclosure multiple times, so I don't visit all the animals in the zoo each time I go. I went back to the Orangs four times for eg, and only the last time they were visible :)

Yep I always use up to 300mm :)
