Very nice Mike. The 300mm pairs well with the 1.4x TC, I often use this combination for a bit of extra reach.

@Mike I completely concur with the others. Very well done.

@Misty Sandra, I tried using my Kenko 1.4x the other day, and it was a complete disaster. To be fair though, I'm pretty sure I had the settings all wrong. I'm going to keep practicing until I (or the Kenko) gets it right. LOL

@Anne it must be user error because I ♥ the Kenko...but I have to be honest I do use a monopod.Don´t like it but NEED it....

Those Osprey shots are really good Anne, I particularly like the 1st one in flight :)
Just to add a bit of diversity, from the other end of the avian scale :), here's a shot of a Coaltit I took today using my 300mm and 1.4x TC. I think the 300 and the TC pair really well together, you get 420mm with IS and a close focussing distance (this shot was from 6-8 feet away) and there's not much loss of image quality:

Oh... I'm sure it was user error. I've used the tele before with wonderful results, so I know what it can do. It's just a case of getting used to the new lens and getting the settings correct. The light was pretty bad during the early part of the morning too, and I'm sure that contributed.

Tomorrow, I'll be receiving the Manfrotto version of a gimbal head, so I guess I'm going to have to start using the tripod. LOL

Beautiful loon.

these were taken in Sequoia National Park, which is just an awesome place. This hawk flew into my campsite and posed on a branch for me. He swooped from tree to tree beneath the canopy in shafts of light. Very cool but he was too fast for me to get those shots.

These were taken with my now-gone 50D (getting rid of that body was a mistake as it was considerably sharper than my 7D with 300 prime and TC) and Canon 1.4x II TC.

I'd have gone and put the lottery on if that had happened to me! Very nice shots of a beautiful bird.

Wonderful shots everybody. I just totally love this lens......to the exclusion of all others.

@Peter Throw some plastic over the camera and lens and go shoot something in the rain. Hey, don't they call that liquid sunshine where you live?

My new Manfrotto Gimbal Head came today. Now I have to figure out how to set it up and use it. Tomorrow though...... my brain is fried tonight. LOL

:) Anne
