I have to get used of shooting handheld with the TC on, the 300mm feels heavier with the TC. I need more practice. Start Pumping iron man!!!! If you ever plan to upgrade from the 70-200 f/4L IS USM.. to the f/2.8 IS II USM, you'll need some arms.. especially for birds/BIF. :P Or even the 500mm Sigmas (50-500 OS/150-500 OS), they're even bigger and heavier. You're doing well, but the Cockatiel shots would have been better on tripod/monopod. ![]() Thanks Kel I think I would need to enroll in a gym he he he. Peter

Thanks... Peter, a monopod sure can't hurt, provided you know how to use it. I've never mastered the art of monopods, and have never used mine.

I've been to San Juan island very nice place. It is also great getaway for the weekend. Maybe this summer will visit, our friend got married there in a little chapel by the waterfront in Friday harbor. Peter

Mar 13, 2012 16:18 | #2127 I use a monopod, as I can't handhold mine. Can't even handhold the 70-200 f4, without IS haha...but using a mono surely works for me. I don't always like it. But when I take it off and come home with blurred photos I can kick myself...so I try to use it as much as I have too. Please call me Sandra

Peter2516 Cream of the Crop More info | Mar 13, 2012 16:29 | #2129 That is good to know Mike and Misty...perharps I will get used to it if I buy a monopod again, I returned it because I always have this feeling that I will missed the handle one day. Unlike the tripod that has 3 legs against 1 I feel more confident. But thanks for sharing I will surely buy a monopod after 2 weeks I'd like to get used to handholding this combo first. Peter

It really takes a load off and adds to image sharpness, IMHO. I use the manfrotto 680B with the 234RC head. 6D | 70D | 24-105 L IS | 17-40 L | 300 F4 L IS | 50 1.8 II | 1.4x II | LR5 | HV30 | bug spray | wilderness
