Oct 26, 2012 14:27 | #3334 I started researching this lens. My thoughts are selling off my sigma 150-500 and maybe picking this up used from Adorama. I haven't been able to use my sigma to any affect except from some close up shots, meaning within 30' or so. That and thing weighs a ton lol. I read above about this lens being noisy. Is that right? Canon R10 , Canon RF 100-400

This lens is plenty sharp in any company, and it has plenty of "snap" as well. Because all the shots you see here are reduced to 1024px on the long side it's not easy to compare, but take my word for it, it's sharp. As for the noise...the IS is a bit clunky compared to more modern lenses, but it works and the AF works fast and accurately. Growing old disgracefully!
