And here it is...1st pics of actual real test shot with a 2xII/IDMKII. AF is a lil bit tad and as a result I missed a few aerial shots which I would not if I were using the 1.4xII. It took a few minutes for me to get used to the focusing but managed to get caught on. IQ is decent but expected on the soft side compare to the 1.4xII. Since the glass is now on the 600mm the subject became tight to compose a shot.

I would only use this occasionally and would stick to the 1.4xII instead. But if you want to go in the 600mm this is really an economical way as it will save you $$$$'s and I recommend it. It takes awhile to get used to it especially the AF but knowing y'all are good shooters I'm sure it will be like a walk in the park

These are still looking great considering you added the 2.0, Next week I will be there and for sure will try my 1D MKII with the 300 plus my Kenko 2.0 tc DGX. It would be my first time taking pics of the surfers any tips (Camera setting Pat?) Thanks.

they tend to be backlit and much darker than the froth so I correct for that. I'd not go under 1/300th only because of the distances and to freeze the spray. Bring something to clean the lens, the wind can kick up the salt spray and sand. I always point away from the direction of wind when not using. I've never had to clean, just blow off a stray bit.
I will have a microfiber towel just in case the wind is blowing lots of sand to wrap around the lens to keep the sand out of the barrel of the lens.( Never had to do this)
This is just the way I do it.
